70’s Mecha & New Page Updates!!

Here we are again on this lovely warm Thursday night. School’s almost out, Summer’s a few weeks away, and anime convention season is about to kick into high gear. That’s right fans of ours June is finally here, and we’ve got some exciting news to share with you! But first, it’s time for us to take that Thursday night trip down memory lane on tonight’s Throwback Thursday…

Grendizer (1975)

If you’re a fan of 1970’s mecha anime, then you’re gonna wanna check this series out! This title is known as Grendizer, and it tells the story of a humanoid named Duke Fleed, whose planet was attacked by King Vega and the Vegan Empire. Duke takes the robot known as the Grendizer, and uses it to escape the attack of the Vegans before finding himself in our solar system, and decides to land on earth. (Well, Japan actually.)

Once there he befriends Doctor Umon and decides to take the name Daisuke Umon, in order to keep a low profile and protect his true nature and identity. Eventually the Vegan Empire discovers his whereabouts after escaping their attack, and have now set their sights on earth. With Fleed having nowhere to flee (we know, that joke was a tad corny) he now faces the king with the Grendizer, and quite possibly a few allies he met while on earth. If you wanna know more about what happens in this series, you can stream it on Youtube or Crunchyroll if they happen to have it.

Now it’s time for some hot news about our two new page installments! Both of these pages are going to be a part of a new drop down menu that will launch next Sunday called, Anime Sunday’s. The first new page under this new drop down menu will be called Anime Couple of the Week, where we highlight a different couple from one of your favorite anime titles each week. The second page will be called Anime Episode of the Week, where we do a full review on a random episode, from a random anime title of our choice.

Also, we’ll be posting all of the upcoming anime conventions to check out on our Cons Near U page, so be sure to check in on what cons are in your area as often as you can! And on that note, we again thank all of you guys for your continuous support with our anime blog! As long as you remember to keep D&A a part of you, we will always keep you a part of us! ๐Ÿ™‚

Throwback Thursday: Old School is the Best School!

If you remember growing up as a kid and watching anime, then you already know without a shadow of a doubt, that your childhood was EPIC and AWESOME! Your parents would probably say the same thing, if they’re familiar with Japanimation that is. Tonight we return to a time where the term ‘Anime’ didn’t come around until a few decades later. (Like the 80’s or so, but then again we could be wrong so don’t shoot us, please!)

Samurai Boy (1964-1965)

Tonight we take a look at a classic title known as Shonen Ninja Kaze no Fujimaru, or as it’s called ‘Samurai Boy‘. This 65-episode series aired from 1964 to 1965, and is about a boy who is saved from an eagle by a samurai named Sasuke. He then takes the boy as his on disciple and trains him, and years later the boy (named Fujimaru) grows up and becomes a skilled fighter who learns how to control the wind. He learns two techniques; one named ‘multiplication’, and the other named ‘leaves’. (Both of which he uses to defeat his enemies.) His ultimate mission is to one; find his missing mother, and two, search for the ‘Ryuen Book’ in order to protect it from the master of fire techniques known as Japusai.

Well guys, we’ve got a little bit of great news! We’ve already confirmed three of our tour stops for next year’s anime convention tour. We will be returning to AniMore for a third time, only this time around we’ll be bringing in some of our official fan panels to the party! Zenkaikon was awesome for us last month, so we will in fact be returning to Lancaster, PA for a second time in 2018. We were planning on going to Anime USA this year, but due to the lack of finances we’ll push our first time appearance to next year. We do want to make our first appearance at Florida Supercon next year, so at this point we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. (Financial-wise.)

That’s all we’ve got for now as far as updates, but remember that you can talk and chat with us on all of our social media pages about anything anime, or what new pages and features we’ll soon be adding to the blog in the coming months!

Make D&A a part of you, and we’ll make you a part of us! ๐Ÿ™‚

Monday Night Updates and Lesser-Known Anime Titles!!

Before we bring you some well anticipated updates we wanna start by apologizing that we weren’t able to deliver you guys, the fans, our usual dose of samurai action titles and Hall of Fame inductees. We’re hoping that this coming weekend you’ll dig in to what we’ve got cookin’ for ya in the D&A kitchen!

Now that that’s settled let’s get down to what’s coming up next! As we mentioned before in our previous filler post, we’ll be debuting some fan panels of our own at some upcoming cons in 2018; starting with AniMore! AniMore is the birthplace of D&A Anime Blog, and was the first anime convention where we (A. Goldman and I) made our first ever public appearance. To celebrate our upcoming two-year anniversary, we’re going to bring you some awesome fans panels that we have officially created!

D&A Anime Blog (Twitter Profile)

Panel #1: The D&A Anime Panel! (Q&A with D&A)

It doesn’t get more simpler than that, right? It’s our official fan panel where you guys get to ask us questions about anything; from how we got started as D&A Anime Blog, to what anime titles we have seen. This panel is dedicated to all of our fans who have supported us throughout the launch of D&A Anime Blog, as well as shown us some love during our 2017 anime convention tour! ๐Ÿ™‚

Panel #2: How to make Electronic Music using MAGIX Live!

This is our second fan panel that we hope to bring to you guys during our 2018 anime convention tour. It’ll be about how to make Electronic Dance Music using the music making software (DAW) known as MAGIX Music Maker Live! If you’re familiar with other programs like FL Studio, Reason, Cubase, Ableton, Logic, Pro Tools, or Garage Band, then MAGIX is similar in nature just like FL Studio and Ableton is. MAGIX is great for anyone at any skill level; whether you’re a novice beatmaker who’s just starting out, or a pro music producer who’s been around the block. Either way you’ll be able to do it all with the new MAGIX Music Maker Live.

Yours Truly will take on the DJ/Producer moniker Groundzkontrol, as I show you guys some tricks and tips on how to mix and master your own tracks! We’ll even put together a live demo track with the help of you guys, the fans! ๐Ÿ™‚

Panel #3: D&A’s Live Anime Trivia Panel!

In this panel, we’ll test your knowledge of anime through a series of multiple choice questions embedded in multiple choice categories. (Using a new type of “UNO” game known as Blackjack UNO.) We pick two teams as they try to see which team has the most knowledge about their favorite anime titles and characters. There will be two phases; the Draw Phase and the Question Phase. (That’s where the UNO cards come in to play.)

The Draw Phase is where one of us will draw two cards at random, and place them in the proper hand where they belong (i.e. if a Red-3 is drawn, it will go in the Red Hand). The first team to get ’21’ in all four hands (meaning all four UNO colors) will win the game, as well as some free D&A T-shirts (and possibly a gift card.)

Also, don’t forget to check out our lesser-known anime title of the day known as Paranoia Agent! If you’ve never seen it yet be sure to check it out on FUNimation, Crunchyroll, or you can find it on YouTube! Ciao my friends! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Filler Post: D&A’s Mid-Tour Recap and what to expect in 2018!

It’s literally had to believe that only six and a half months remain until 2018, and it’s even harder to believe that time can fly so quickly when you’re on the road. While we’ve been on this tour we’ve met some stunning people that work in the anime industry; such as voice actors Steve Blum, Sonny Strait, Alexis Tipton and more. (Don’t worry Jamie and Monica our paths will cross one day.) Although we’ve said this over a thousand times already on the blog and social media, we thank you (the fans) from the bottom of our hearts for the love and support that you’ve been giving to us over the past 17 months.

To all of our fans overseas we thank you from the bottom of our hearts too! It’s always awesome to find other fans that love anime, cosplay and manga as much as we do. We’ve built a lot of great friendships while we’ve been on this little anime convention tour of ours, and based on our first hand experience of doing this tour, we wouldn’t trade it in for anything else in the world. There are only two stops that remain on our 2017 D&A tour; SaikuCon in Allentown, PA happening August 18-20th, and Anime NYC in New York, NY happening November 17-19th.

As we mentioned before in one of our twitter posts, we’ll be hosting three possible fan panels at next year’s AniMore at the Hyatt Regency in Baltimore, MD. We also mentioned that we would be giving you some more details about them, so without any further delay, here we go! ๐Ÿ™‚

The first panel will be our official panel known as The D&A Anime Panel! You can ask us questions like how we got started, what our favorite anime titles are, who’s our favorite voice actors and everything else in between.

The second one will be about how to create electronic music using a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) called MAGIX Music Maker Live. It’ll feature Yours Truly under the Music Producer and DJ moniker; Groundzkontrol. I’ll cover the basics on how to use MAGIX to produce, mix and master your own tracks like a pro. (Time allowed that is, though we’re pretty sure we’ll have enough time.)

The third is actually going to be a live trivia game where we have four teams playing against each other in a game show-like fashion, as they try to see which team knows their anime like the back of their own hand! The winning team will receive a free official D&A Anime Blog T-shirt and three mystery gift cards that can range anywhere from $10-25.

If things go well we just might bring one of these three awesome panels to any (if not all) of the anime conventions that are on our list for our 2018 tour. (Which will be posted in November.)

This has been quite an amazing journey and experience for us while going around to these various cons. We’ve met some great friends, hardcore D&A fans, and other friendly otaku who love the industry and the lifestyle as much as we do. As long as you continue to be a part of us, D&A will always be a part of you! Long live otaku!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

In The Month of May, the otaku will Play!

It may have taken us a little longer than expected to deliver some of the best anime convention locations to you guys, but huzzah! Here they are! the cons that you’ll be looking for are located in the Northwest, Southwest, Westbound, and Southbound regions of North America. If you’re looking for where and when the next anime con is being held, then Cons Near U is your one-stop place to check out where the latest and greatest conventions for anime, manga, video game, and comic book enthusiasts, are going to be held!

We’ll have more updates on our possible early launch of our music playlist page, as well as which anime cons we’ll be heading to for our 2018 tour. All that and more next time on D&A Anime Blog! It’s a part of you! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Friday Nights are for Anime and Manga Fans!

At least Friday nights on D&A Anime Blog are! Hard to believe that just last week we were decked out in our signature cosplay for Zenkaikon in Lancaster, PA. Now we’re back here to give you guys (the fans) just what you’ve been looking for; some awesome anime, OVA, and manga titles to check out on the blog! If you’re familiar with a show called And You Thought there was never a girl Online, then you’re going to love How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend.

Looking for a classic space opera about two warring factions that have the same goals but different views and ideas on how to accomplish said goals? Then look no further friends, cuz’ we’ve got an anime OVA title called Legend of the Galactic Heroes for you to check out and stream! We’re not one to leave Manga of the Week hanging by the wayside, so we’ve decided to pick it back up with a manga title known as The Candidate for Goddess. (Be sure to check it out if you’ve never got the chance to read it yet.)

Now onto some update news regarding the blog/site. Thanks to a financial blessing we might actually be able to launch our music playlist page known as November Groundz: Kontrol Room, as early as mid-July of this year. The page will contain a track list of all the original songs (produced by Yours Truly as November Groundz) that will be a part of the playlist title called Kontrol Room. Among that is a new blog page dedicated to all the anime couples out there named Anime Couple of the Week, which will make its debut in June on our Miscellany Monday drop down menu. Plus, more anime conventions for the month of May are coming to the blog, so be sure to check in on our Cons Near U page to see which anime conventions are within your region or area!

That’s it for now. Come back for our Slash Saturday segment as we get ready for another wild weekend of Toonami, Samurai Jack, and all the anime that you can handle! ๐Ÿ™‚

Filler Page: 18 Month Anniversary Plans…

It’s kind of hard to believe that the 2017 year is almost half over. It feels just like yesterday that my partner and I started this awesome blog that has grown into the wonderful site that it is today, and we can’t thank our fans and social media followers enough for all the support. With that being said we’ve got some new plans and concepts for what we’re going to be doing for the blog on our 18 month anniversary, which is on June 11th of this year.

So you guys might be asking yourselves, “What’s next for D&A Anime Blog?” well guys, we’re about to tell you! Starting on the second Monday in June, we’re bringing you a brand new sub-page that will be added to the Miscellany Monday drop down menu called Anime Couple of the Week! For that segment we’ll be combing the web for some of the coolest, hottest, and most badass couples in anime (male, female, or both). We’ll also be working on getting an official domain for our site as well as establish a newsletter system, so that we can enhance our fan’s experience with the blog.

If we reach 10,000 or more views on our blog, then we’ll post a special s 10,000 WordPress Views video on our YouTube page. Many of our fans have been asking (begging) us to get an Instagram page, so not to worry guys, we’ll be getting an Instagram page soon enough! We’ve got more new features and updates that will be making their way to the blog within the coming months, so be sure to check in every so often to see what’s on the up-and-up.

Pardon Our Dust (The Return)…

Hey anime and manga fans! Once again we at D&A Anime Blog wanna thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support that we’ve been getting from the blog recently. For the next couple of days or so, we’ll be doing some mild renovating of our site to make it awesome and exciting for newcomers, as well as returning our fans.

As for what’s good on our side of the tracks; we’re gearing up for our third stop on our D&A mini anime convention tour, as there will be a new cosplay page added to our Cosplay Hall drop down menu within a few weeks. If you’ve been following us on our Facebook and Twitter pages, we’ve mentioned that we’re currently working on getting some electronic music production equipment (laptop, MIDI controller keyboard, etc.) so that we can have the ability to introduce a new music playlist feature for the blog.

We’ve also noticed that when we’ve been doing our WordPress posts on the blog, that while many of them are good to read and rather informative, then ten to lack in deeper and exclusive detail. As our promise to you (the fans) we plan on making our posts a little bit lengthier, so that we can give both old fans and new fans the full D&A experience! We apologize for not being able to bring you our anime title picks for our Throwback Thursday and D&A Friday’s segments this week, but since we’ll be at Zenkaikon next week, we’ll only be able to give you guys some reviews on some classic anime titles on Thursday. (We’ll make it up to you the following Friday.)

Saturday night is another awesome night of Toonami, and a chance to redeem ourselves during our Slash Saturday segment. Until then, stay golden and keep on making anime and D&A, a part of you! ๐Ÿ˜‰

D&A Filler Posts: What Are They Up To Now?

If you guys are familiar with the concept of fillers or filler arcs in anime, then you might have an idea of what we’re getting at with this post. If you don’t then don’t worry, because we’re about to explain it to you! Every week on the blog we usually post anywhere between 3 and 5 posts a week. (Or about 1.5 a day for four days.) With that in mind we thought about ways where we can keep the momentum of the blog/site going, while at the same time continuing to cater to you (the fans) of what you wanna see from us. So far in the past fifteen months that D&A Anime Blog has been active; we’ve gotten over 30 WordPress followers, over 500 Twitter followers, over 25 Facebook followers, and we’re closing in on close to 7,000 total views on the blog itself!

We can’t thank you guys enough on all of the support that we’ve been getting from the blog, as well as from the anime community. Plus as always we wanna give an awesome shout-out to the crew at FUNimation, the voice actors, everyone at Crunchyroll, Sentai Filmworks, Aniplex, VizMedia, and to everyone that we’ve met during our 2017 mini anime convention tour. As for the filler posts that we’ve mentioned, they will fall into one of the following categories; Anime Episode Reviews, D&A’s Top 5 and Top 10, or Fan Posts. (Anything that you want us to write about.)

We’re also thinking about extending the length of our posts so that our fans can get an in-depth feel from what we post on our blog. We welcome any critiques that you may have as a D&A Anime Blog fan, in order to help us become a better anime blog and website, so that we can give you the ultimate anime blog experience! (Send them to us through our Contact Us page!) There’s no real time of when these filler posts will pop up, but when they do, you’ll know that that’s our way of making D&A more awesome, more attractive, and more a part of you! ๐Ÿ™‚

Throwback Thursday: The 90’s come rollin’ in like a Rock!

And roll they shall! We’re back on this awesomely cool Thursday night with some anime classics that old school otaku have come to know, and love. Tonight we take a trip back into the 90’s decade of the Throwback Thursday timeline, where titles like Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z broke ground and reshaped the anime world as we know today. Looking for a classic anime series that follows a different path that other anime story lines? Then Seraphim Call might be the show for you! Are you scouting for some classic romance and magical girl titles? Then why not check out a little series called Saint Tail, and see what it’s all about!

Here’s a quick update! We mentioned in our last youtube video about us starting our D&A 411 segment this coming Saturday, but since we want to give you (the fans) the full experience of having both A. Goldman and Yours Truly on some upcoming youtube video announcements, we’ve decided to debut D&A 411 on the third Saturday of next month. We return with another installment of Anime OVA of the Week tomorrow night, and Saturday get ready for another showdown with your favorite samurai titles, Hall of Fame inductees, and of course Toonami! ๐Ÿ™‚
