Tonight’s 80’s anime title of the week is…Tokimeki Tonight

41441

If you were a vampire-werewolf hybrid, wouldn’t you want to have both powers and abilities by your side? Well in a case like this the main character of this 80’s anime title Tokimeki Tonight can transform into a copy of any object that she bites. (Be it human or not, although in order to change back to normal she has to sneeze.) Ranze Eto is a half-breed who wants to live a normal life as a teenage girl. Upon attending junior high school she meets a boy named Shun Makabe, however her mom and dad don’t want her to date a human (although we can probably guess why). Things get a bit complicated when Ranze has to deal with her in-school rival Yoko Kamiya, due to the fact that she too is in love with Shun. If you’re looking for a classic 1980’s anime romantic comedy, then Tokimeki Tonight is the answer you’re looking for! 😉

22959l

Looking for a 1980’s anime classic about a boy on a long journey to find his mother? Then Belle and Sebastian is going to be the anime classic for you! High in the mountains of France was a boy named Sebastian, who didn’t have any friends because he was teased for not having a mother. One day he finds a rather friendly dog who he named Belle, but was falsely accused for her crimes (which she didn’t commit). Both Sebastian and Belle (along with Poochie) decided to head out on their own adventure to find his biological mother, as well as keep Belle safe from the police who are currently on the hunt for her. Check it out if you haven’t gotten the chance to! 🙂

Our second 80’s anime title this week is…Aura Battler Dunbine

Aura_Battler_Dunbine

Ever wonder what would happen if you take everything you know about Medieval Times and combined it with robot mechs from the future? Well this early 80’s anime title fits that description quite nicely. Aura Battler Dunbine tells the story of a parallel world known as Byston Well, where dragons, knights, and castles are found here in this dimensional land that resembles that of medieval Europe. Sho Zama plays the main role, as he is transported into this world before discovering that he possesses a rather powerful robot known as an Aura Battler. Because he possesses a special type of Aura Battler, Sho is soon enlisted into the Byston Well conflict as the pilot in charge of the Aura Battler known as; the Dunbine.

If you’re looking for a great mecha/fantasy story with just a touch of steampunk, then this classic 80’s title may be just what the doctor ordered!

Our first 80’s anime title this week is…Persia, the Magic Fairy

hqdefaultmagic

Magical girls in the 80’s? Yep, there were quite a few titles from that particular genre long before the rise of Sailor Moon (which really took the genre to a whole new level). Persia, the Magic Fairy is a classic 80’s anime title about  an 11-year-old girl named (you guessed it) Persia, who acquires magical capabilities due to a return flight to Japan accompanied by Riki and Gaku Muroi along with their grandfather.

The “Lovely Dream” world is in danger, so the fairy queen of that world enlists in the help of Persia in order to preserve the magical world that exists. She is then given a gold headband with a star on it that only reacts to the world “Papurikko”, with it Persia can conjure up magic from the dream world as well as create a bridge between her world and the world of the “Lovely Dream”. The whole series is about her saving the magical world of the “Lovely Dream”, by collecting love energy from the human world to thaw out the dream world.

If you’re a fan of the magical girl genre and you’re looking for something a bit old school (in this case something a bit further back than Sailor Moon), then perhaps Persia, the Magic Fairy might be the classic throwback anime title you’re looking for! 🙂

Our second 80’s anime title this week is…Fang of the Sun Dougram

fang_of_the_sun_dougram

Welcome back to our Throwback Thursday’s segment of the blog, where we bring you nostalgic titles that many of you old school fans may remember. (And some you may not remember.) This time around we return to the 80’s with a title known as Fang of the Sun Dougram. If you’re familiar with the Mecha genre of anime, then there’s no doubt that this old school title was floating around somewhere on the airwaves.

The story is about a governor from the planet of Deloyer, that declares martial law on the colony and becomes a dictator for the Federation, with which he plans to rule with an iron fist. Crinn Chashim is the estranged son of the governor who doesn’t share the save views as his father, therefore he rises up against him in rebellion using a prototype known as the Dougram. Throughout the series Crinn along with his rebellion group “The Deloyer 7” fight against the Federation and its influence, so that the planet of Deloyer (and its colony) can live free of its iron grip. If you’re a lover of classic mecha anime from the 80’s, then don’t past this title by without checking it out!

Our first 80’s anime title this week is…The Mysterious Cities of Gold

the-mysterious-cities-of-gold-cast

A long while back there was a Dreamworks movie entitled The Road to El Dorado that was about two guys from Spain, who discover a map leading to the lost city of gold. (Though their original plan was to pass themselves off as gods in order to trick the locals into giving them mountains of gold, to take back to Spain as a get-rich-quick scheme.) However that’s not what this series is about…at least, not about that. This classic title is about a boy named Esteban who joins a voyage to the New World with his father, in order to search for the lost Seven Cities of Gold. During their adventure they come across a cast of awesome allies and devious enemies, as they make their way towards the wonders and treasures that await them in El Dorado. If you haven’t checked out this classic series full of historic adventure, check it out and stream it online! 🙂

Our first 80’s anime title this week is…Dirty Pair

dirtypair1

Before the era of Panty & Stocking, these two females were the original dirty pair! Kei and Yuri are two ladies known as the trouble consultants in Team 234; aka “The Lovely Angels”. They go on various missions that involve them catching wanted criminals, but they always leave a trail of destruction behind them wherever they go, thus giving them the name Dirty Pair. (Which they hate to be called.)

Kei is a redhead who’s hotheaded, shoots first and asks questions later, and loves muscular men. (Like one frisky angel we all know.) Yuri is a little more levelheaded but can be violent when crossed, uses non-gun weaponry; such as a sword or throwing cards, and likes more well refined men who aren’t d-bags. (Like another angel we all know.) The two also possess joint ESP powers which is just one of the reasons why they were hired as trouble consultants in the first place. (That and they always catch their man/woman.) If you wanna know who the real dirty pair is, it never hurts to check out these two lovely ladies! 😉
