Monday Night’s Are Full of Friends! (A Book of Friends, that is!)

We have now arrived at the last Monday in June for the 2017 year, and with only six more months to go before New Year’s Eve, we’re so happy that we’ve come this far in such a short time! Much of our success with this anime blog/website hybrid, is really thanks to the many awesome anime fans we’ve met through our travels during anime conventions. We’ve still got more tricks up our sleeves so don’t leave us hangin’ just yet!

As for tonight on this low-humidity Monday night, we’ve got some lesser-known anime titles to share with you! We might’ve cut back on the snacks this post this time around, but next week we’re sure to have your sweet tooth doin’ the ‘Cha-Cha Slide’ in no time!

Tonight we’ve got a supernatural comedy title known as Natsume’s Book of Friends. The series deals with the main character (Takashi Natsume) and his ability to see spirits that was passed down from his grandmother. The day of her death she gave Natsume her ‘Book of Friends’ which is a special book containing spirits that she had bullied into servitude. The book itself however is a highly valuable prize that every spirit – good and bad – wants a piece of. (Some of the evil spirits would go so far as to kill Natsume just so they could have the book for their own desires.)

During all of this commotion Natsume gains a spirit bodyguard who comes in the form of a cat named Madara (not Uchiha). Because of his ability to see ghosts Natsume has now become a target for both yokai and exorcists alike – except the latter want to use his skills in order to fight off ghosts. If this is the type of anime you’re looking for, then you can stream it on Crunchyroll or look for it on Youtube.

If you haven’t heard the news already, we’ve taken the liberty of posting links to many of our Filler Posts so that fans will be able to read them over, and over again! We’ll be getting ready to post our July anime conventions before next week, so stay tuned for more action and more fun from D&A Anime Blog! Make us a part of you, and we’ll make you a part of us! ๐Ÿ™‚

The same can be said for anime and manga; with its vivid colors and various distinctive art styles its no wonder many of us are drawn to its beauty. Tonight we’ve got some beautiful anime and manga titles for you to check out if you’re looking for a title about youth, or you may wanna read something funny about art. If you’re looking for an anime title about recapturing your youth then ReLIFE is going to be your answer! The series is about a 27-year-old man who quit his job due to the fact that he feels the job is not helping him fulfill his full potential. He then comes across a mysterious man who can give him a wonderful job opportunity, but first he needs to become a tester for the ReLIFE. The special experiment is supposed to rejuvenate the tester by 10 years and send him back to high school as a student, although with every experiment there’s bound to be side effects that could be benign, or have deadly consequences. You can stream this series on Crunchyroll or look for it on Youtube.

If you’re looking for a manga title about art then you’re answer is going to be GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class. This slice-of-life comedy follows the artistic adventures of the GA-1 art class, as they strive to become one of the best art classes in their school despite the mishaps and shenanigans that happen. A great manga read if you’re looking for something funny and artsy to enjoy.

Well that’s all for now. Next week we’re going to be making links to some of the blog’s filler posts so that fans can read and enjoy them over, and over again! Remember, make D&A a part of you, and we’ll make you a part of us! ๐Ÿ™‚

Back to the Monday Night Anime & Food Grind!

It’s been 2 or 3 weeks since our latest Miscellany Monday segment, but now it feels good to be back on the Monday night anime-posting grind! That being said, we’ve got some lesser-known titles and delicious snacks for you guys to check out! By the way, we’ve taken the liberty of creating links to all of our sub-pages on the blog, and placed them on our main home page so that it’ll be much easier to navigate to the page that you wanna see the most!

Now it’s time for what we’ve got cooking for your Monday night anime blog fun! If you’re looking for an anime title that deals with the occult during an alternate timeline of the Edo-Period, then the answer to your prayers is none other than Mushishi. This series is an episodic anthology that deals with Ginko, an otherworldly man that is able to see these supernatural creatures known as Mushi. Although he travels to many places and studies their ways and existence, he stresses to others that the Mushi are not evil, but aids the ones who are suffering from various problems that are caused by these ubiquitous creatures.

If you’re looking for something that you can really sink your sweet tooth into, then the answer to that lies at a confectionery shop in Japan! Uiro is a steamed cake dessert that’s made out of rice flour and sugar, and can be found and purchased at your local confection shop in Japan. Many other regions also have their own version of this confectionery treat which was also the name of a medicine during the Muromachi Period (1336-1573).

Before the week concludes we’ll be posting the links to some of our most popular Filler Posts on our main page, so that you can enjoy reading them over and over again. We’ve also made a slight change dealing with the last stop on our tour, as we’ll be traveling to Claymont, DE in the month of November to attend Thy Geekdom Con 2017. While there we will also be celebrating the 28th birthday of one of the founders of D&A Anime Blog, D.J. “Groundzkontrol” Lewis!

We’ll have more filler posts and more updates coming your way this week on the blog! And as always continue making D&A a part of you, and we’ll continue to make you a part of us! Luv ya! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Apprentice Knights and Haunted Houses! Just what the D&A Doctors Ordered!

Family and relationships are probably two of the most important things we need in life, when it comes to social interaction with others and family members. There are many anime and manga titles out there in the world that follow this exact teaching, and tonight we’ve got some awesome ones to share with you! So strap yourselves in as we take you on another journey into the world of anime and manga as only D&A Anime Blog can!

If you’re looking for an anime title that deals with romance, character build-up and development, great fight scenes along with some good ol’ fantasy, then you’re gonna wanna check out Chivalry of a Failed Knight! The story deals with humans living on an alternate earth who are called ‘Blazers’ that are able to materialize weapons based on their fighting spirit (soul), called ‘Devices’. Ikki Kurogane has been given the title as “The Worst One” due to his low-ranked magical abilities as an apprentice knight, while Stella Vermillion is one of the best knights who happens to be an A-Rank, making Ikki an F-Rank. After the incident where Ikki saw Stella undress the two engage in a duel where the loser has to do what the winner says. If you wanna know more (and don’t want us to spoil it for you) then you can stream this title on FUNimation and Crunchyroll and check it out for yourselves.

If you’re looking for a comedy-horror about how stressful it can be when meeting your girlfriend’s (or boyfriend’s) parents for the first time, then you’re gonna wanna check out this manga title called Haunted House. It’s got a bit of an Addams Family vibe to it but the comedy found within is quite entertaining, even though there’s only one volume. We’ve got more excitement coming your way for Saturday night and Sunday night, so be sure to check in on the blog as well as our social media pages for updates and more!

Until next time, make D&A a part of you, and we’ll make you a part of us! ๐Ÿ™‚

Sailor Moon: A Game-Changer in the Magical Girl Movement!

Here we are on this lovely Throwback Thursday night as we bring you some classics from some of the most pioneering decades of anime history. If you’re a 90’s kid, be it male or female, then you’re probably fully aware that there has been a movement made in the magical girl scene. Every single magical girl anime title that came after the 90’s decade was inspired by this title in particular. It’s been over 20 years since many of us have seen this well-known and well-famous magical girl title, and we’re pretty sure you know exactly what we’re talking about!

Sailor Moon is the pioneering anime title that has changed the magical girl game since 1992. It has five original seasons, 200 episodes, a few movies (including a live-action), and a re-dub known as Sailor Moon Crystal. The english-dubbed theme song has been sung and heard over hundreds of times, and has even been heard during anime convention rave parties through DJ sets. The story of course is about Usagi, a middle-school girl who is given a magical brooch from a cat named Luna, who then uses it to transform into the earth-saving warrior we know as Sailor Moon.

She and Luna then round up some Sailor Soldiers (who we know as the Sailor Scouts) to help her track down the whereabouts of their princess, as well as the Silver Crystal. As we’ve said before, Sailor Moon is a game-changing anime series that has redefined what it meant to be a magical girl. Present day shows like Madoka Magica and Panty and Stocking have used the magical girl elements as if they were paying homage to Sailor Moon. (Does the art-shift transformation sequence of PSG that we all know and love ring a bell?) If you wanna know who the original magical girl troop is, then this classic title is the answer that you’ve been looking for!
