Throwback Thursday: Life in the Fast Lane!

I guess it’s safe to say that many of us like to go fast like a certain blue hedgehog. Like just throwing all caution into the wind and just take off without even looking back. It may not seem like it to some people but life can pass you by before you even get the chance to blink, which is why we do everything we can to live it up to the fullest! Whenever WE think of the word ‘fast’ – we think race car drivers! Tonight is no exception for what we’ve got going on for you guys, so if you’re a fan of auto racing and sci-fi dramas, then you’re gonna love the classic 90’s anime title we’ve got right here! 😉

Tonight’s throwback title is a 90’s anime classic known as Future GPX Cyber Formula. The series tells the story of 14-year-old Hayato Kazami who somehow became a race car driver for the Sugo Team, due to the fact that the Asurada (a super intelligent AI machine) inside a race car known as the GSX, has locked in his data after trying to escape from a man named Smith. During his races in the Cyber GPX Hayato meets a lot of friends and rivals, all while doing everything he can to avoid Smith and his henchmen from trying to get the Asurada back. This is a great series for the hi-octane otaku who likes fast cars and super computers, so if you fit this description, then by all means check this classic anime series out on Youtube or any legal streaming site!

If you’re looking for a classic slice-of-life anime title filled with drama and adventure, then Anne of Green Gables will be the title for you! The plot deals with a young and talkative orphan girl named Anne Shirley who is accidentally sent to Mr. and Miss Cuthbert. Although shocked at the fact that they originally wanted an orphan boy, Anne’s adopted parents took her in and gradually became a full-fledged member of the family after hearing her sad backstory. The series follows the adventures of Anne and her newfound family as she discovers what its like to have one. You can watch/stream this title on Youtube, FUNimation, Crunchyroll, or any place that has legal permission to stream this classic title.

We have some exciting upcoming news regarding our two fanfiction titles! The first two chapters of the fanfic “Danganronpa Roulette” will be posted on August 21, 2017. From there we will post a brand new chapter every Monday and Thursday night after that date. The first two chapters of our other fanfic “Junko: The Ultimate Mastermind” will be posted December 10, 2017. New chapters will be posted every Friday night each week afterwards. There are only two more stops remaining on our 2017 D&A Anime Tour, so be sure to check out the events block of our Facebook page to see which cons we’ll be heading to.

That’ll do for now. Tomorrow is Friday which brings us the return of D&A Friday’s after somewhat of a short hiatus. Slash Saturday may not bring any samurai anime titles to the forefront for awhile, but that doesn’t mean our samurai warriors won’t get inducted into the Samurai Hall of Fame! All this and Ani-Sunday too next time on D&A Anime Blog! It’s a part of you! 😉

Sailor Moon: A Game-Changer in the Magical Girl Movement!

Here we are on this lovely Throwback Thursday night as we bring you some classics from some of the most pioneering decades of anime history. If you’re a 90’s kid, be it male or female, then you’re probably fully aware that there has been a movement made in the magical girl scene. Every single magical girl anime title that came after the 90’s decade was inspired by this title in particular. It’s been over 20 years since many of us have seen this well-known and well-famous magical girl title, and we’re pretty sure you know exactly what we’re talking about!

Sailor Moon is the pioneering anime title that has changed the magical girl game since 1992. It has five original seasons, 200 episodes, a few movies (including a live-action), and a re-dub known as Sailor Moon Crystal. The english-dubbed theme song has been sung and heard over hundreds of times, and has even been heard during anime convention rave parties through DJ sets. The story of course is about Usagi, a middle-school girl who is given a magical brooch from a cat named Luna, who then uses it to transform into the earth-saving warrior we know as Sailor Moon.

She and Luna then round up some Sailor Soldiers (who we know as the Sailor Scouts) to help her track down the whereabouts of their princess, as well as the Silver Crystal. As we’ve said before, Sailor Moon is a game-changing anime series that has redefined what it meant to be a magical girl. Present day shows like Madoka Magica and Panty and Stocking have used the magical girl elements as if they were paying homage to Sailor Moon. (Does the art-shift transformation sequence of PSG that we all know and love ring a bell?) If you wanna know who the original magical girl troop is, then this classic title is the answer that you’ve been looking for!

The weekend returns with D&A Friday’s, Slash Saturday, and our newest addition to D&A, Ani-Sunday! We’ll keep you abreast of what’s new for the blog as well as what stops we’ll be making on our 2018 tour. All that and then some coming up on D&A Anime Blog! It’s a part of you! 😉
