We’re cutting through your day with D&A’s Slash Saturday!!

So we’ve finally arrived at yet another awesome Saturday night; filled with Toonami, anime, manga, and anime conventions! (Speaking of which we’ll have some new ones for the month of June coming in a few days!) As always with our Slash Saturday segment, we’ve got some killer action samurai anime titles for you to check out, as well as our inductees for both our male and female division of our Samurai Hall of Fame.

For our Samurai Anime of the Week we have a title called The Hakkenden. The story deals with the Sengoku Jidai (or period drama which the word “Jidaigeki” means in Japanese) in Awa, where the princess of the Satomi clan spiritually gave birth to eight warriors who are known as Hakkenshi, or dog warriors. These warriors are then spread out to different regions of Awa just after the princesses’ birth. The story is divided into three parts; which deals with the dog warriors facing a threat that could potentially wipe out the tiny providence of Awa and its people.ย  If you’re looking for a supernatural jidaigeki anime title, then be sure to check out (and stream) The Hakkenden! ๐Ÿ™‚

Stay positive, and stay gold! ๐Ÿ˜‰

D&A Friday’s: Where Anime is a part of You!

Wow, is it Friday already?! It feels just like yesterday that we made some filler posts about rave parties at cons, and how to deal with con heartbreak, but now we once again arrive at the fifth day of the week (as always). Like we do every Friday night, we bring you some awesome anime titles that we know you’re gonna love, as well as some cool OVAs to add to the excitement! We didn’t get the chance to do our Manga of the Week sub-page segment this time, however we’ve got some upcoming titles that we plan on highlighting next week!

Accel World

If you’re a fan of SAO and Log Horizon, then Accel World is gonna be the anime title for you! Being a fluffy kid in middle school can really be a pain, especially when you have to put up with others making fun of you and bullying you all the time. (We’ve been there so we know what it’s like.) Haru always finds himself on the receiving end of getting bullied, so to tear himself away from reality, he logs into his school’s network through his Neuro Linker in order to blow off steam through an online game called Virtual Squash.

Eventually his skills catch the attention of the most intelligent girl in Umesato Jr. High, who goes by the name of the Black Snow Princess (or Kuroyukihime). She not only assists him in helping to face his bullies, but introduces him to an Augmented Reality Massive Multiplayer Online (ARMMO) game called Brain Burst; which players fight against one another in battles to earn Burst Points. There’s more to this story so be sure to stream it on Youtube, FUNimation, or Crunchyroll if you wanna check it out!

And don’t forget to check out Hunter x Hunter and its OVAs too, if you’ve never, EVER seen the series before (in life)!

Next Sunday is going to be quite exciting for us, because we’re introducing a brand new drop down menu called Anime Sunday’s! In it will contain two sub-pages; Anime Couple of the Week, and Anime Episode of the Week! We’re so proud to be sharing this awesome feature with you guys, so your feedback and comments about it will be greatly appreciated! We wanna thank our fans and social media followers for all of the support that we’ve been getting for you, and continue to make D&A a part of you, and as always we will make you a part of us! ๐Ÿ™‚

70’s Mecha & New Page Updates!!

Here we are again on this lovely warm Thursday night. School’s almost out, Summer’s a few weeks away, and anime convention season is about to kick into high gear. That’s right fans of ours June is finally here, and we’ve got some exciting news to share with you! But first, it’s time for us to take that Thursday night trip down memory lane on tonight’s Throwback Thursday…

Grendizer (1975)

If you’re a fan of 1970’s mecha anime, then you’re gonna wanna check this series out! This title is known as Grendizer, and it tells the story of a humanoid named Duke Fleed, whose planet was attacked by King Vega and the Vegan Empire. Duke takes the robot known as the Grendizer, and uses it to escape the attack of the Vegans before finding himself in our solar system, and decides to land on earth. (Well, Japan actually.)

Once there he befriends Doctor Umon and decides to take the name Daisuke Umon, in order to keep a low profile and protect his true nature and identity. Eventually the Vegan Empire discovers his whereabouts after escaping their attack, and have now set their sights on earth. With Fleed having nowhere to flee (we know, that joke was a tad corny) he now faces the king with the Grendizer, and quite possibly a few allies he met while on earth. If you wanna know more about what happens in this series, you can stream it on Youtube or Crunchyroll if they happen to have it.

Now it’s time for some hot news about our two new page installments! Both of these pages are going to be a part of a new drop down menu that will launch next Sunday called, Anime Sunday’s. The first new page under this new drop down menu will be called Anime Couple of the Week, where we highlight a different couple from one of your favorite anime titles each week. The second page will be called Anime Episode of the Week, where we do a full review on a random episode, from a random anime title of our choice.

Also, we’ll be posting all of the upcoming anime conventions to check out on our Cons Near U page, so be sure to check in on what cons are in your area as often as you can! And on that note, we again thank all of you guys for your continuous support with our anime blog! As long as you remember to keep D&A a part of you, we will always keep you a part of us! ๐Ÿ™‚

Slash Saturday: Sorry to keep you Waiting…

Sorry for the unexpected two week hiatus with us getting this awesome segment to you guys, but there were a few things we had to handle in the ‘real world’. Now that we’re here before you, let’s get back to what made your Saturday nights awesome (other than Toonami)! We’ll continue to do our best in bringing you some awesome samurai anime titles as well as our male and female Samurai Hall of Fame inductees, for you to enjoy!

We apologize that this post is a bit shorter than most of our usual ones, but Yours Truly has been a bit exhausted during these past couple of days. Next time we’ll give you the full details of what we’ve got goin’ on for ya, until then continue to make D&A a part of you, and we’ll make you a part of us! ๐Ÿ™‚

Throwback Thursday: Old School is the Best School!

If you remember growing up as a kid and watching anime, then you already know without a shadow of a doubt, that your childhood was EPIC and AWESOME! Your parents would probably say the same thing, if they’re familiar with Japanimation that is. Tonight we return to a time where the term ‘Anime’ didn’t come around until a few decades later. (Like the 80’s or so, but then again we could be wrong so don’t shoot us, please!)

Samurai Boy (1964-1965)

Tonight we take a look at a classic title known as Shonen Ninja Kaze no Fujimaru, or as it’s called ‘Samurai Boy‘. This 65-episode series aired from 1964 to 1965, and is about a boy who is saved from an eagle by a samurai named Sasuke. He then takes the boy as his on disciple and trains him, and years later the boy (named Fujimaru) grows up and becomes a skilled fighter who learns how to control the wind. He learns two techniques; one named ‘multiplication’, and the other named ‘leaves’. (Both of which he uses to defeat his enemies.) His ultimate mission is to one; find his missing mother, and two, search for the ‘Ryuen Book’ in order to protect it from the master of fire techniques known as Japusai.

Well guys, we’ve got a little bit of great news! We’ve already confirmed three of our tour stops for next year’s anime convention tour. We will be returning to AniMore for a third time, only this time around we’ll be bringing in some of our official fan panels to the party! Zenkaikon was awesome for us last month, so we will in fact be returning to Lancaster, PA for a second time in 2018. We were planning on going to Anime USA this year, but due to the lack of finances we’ll push our first time appearance to next year. We do want to make our first appearance at Florida Supercon next year, so at this point we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. (Financial-wise.)

That’s all we’ve got for now as far as updates, but remember that you can talk and chat with us on all of our social media pages about anything anime, or what new pages and features we’ll soon be adding to the blog in the coming months!

Make D&A a part of you, and we’ll make you a part of us! ๐Ÿ™‚

Another Friday, another chance to catch some D&A Friday’s!!

These weeks have been blowing by like the wind, but one thing’s for sure, we’re still gonna bring you the best in what the anime and manga world has to offer! There are hundreds upon thousands of titles out there in the world, but with so many titles comes so little time. Not to worry anime fans, when it comes to something of this magnitude we boost our power levels to the MAX to bring you the latest and greatest from our dear friends at FUNimation, and Crunchyroll!

If you’re on the look out for a romance, fantasy, and adventure title, then might we suggest a little two-season series called Spice and Wolf. The title is about a 25-year old traveling merchant named Kraft Lawrence who peddles around goods that he gives to any of the towns that he happens to be passing by. One day he suddenly discovers a wolf goddess named Holo in the form of a 15-year-old teenage girl, except the wolf ears and tail are still visible. She travels with Kraft while giving him wisdom on how to increase his profits in selling goods to various townspeople, however his relationship with Holo causes controversy among the people of the church.

If you’re a lover of anime OVA’s then you might want to check out a three part crossover OVA entitled; Cyborg 009 vs. Devilman. Both 009 and Devilman cross paths for the very first time as they begin to have some sort of a conflict with each other. Various new characters join this three-part OVA trilogy as 009 and Devilman duel one another to see which one of them is the strongest.

We’ve got more excitement and more updates about what’s new with D&A coming up in a few weeks, so don’t be a Snorlax and sleep through all the fun we’ve got planned! Until tomorrow night anime fans, this is Yours Truly and A. Goldman saying, “Keep making D&A a part of you, and we’ll keep making you a part of us!” ๐Ÿ˜‰

Love & Dessert: A Heart-Warming Combination!

Ice cream, chocolate cake, strawberry sundaes…those are the kind of sweet treats that are no fun to eat alone. Love and dessert almost go together like salt and pepper (the condiments not the female rappers, though we love them too), PB and J, and anything else that might make a great combo! Of course for your Monday night treat my friends, we’re giving you more than just something sweet to snack on with your significant other. We’re giving you some lesser known anime titles to enjoy as well! ๐Ÿ˜‰

ef-a-tale-of-memories

If you’re looking for an anime title about love, rejection, and acceptance, then you’re gonna want to check out this lesser-known title called ef: A Tale of Memories. It tells the story about a boy named Hiro who comes across a girl named Miyako, who borrows his bike in order to catch a purse snatcher during Christmas Eve. After crashing his bike Miyako and Hiro end up spending their Christmas Eve together, and soon discover that the two of them are actually in the same class, much to the dismay of Hiro’s childhood friend Kei (who secretly likes him). There’s more to the story than what we just told you, so check it out and stream it on Crunchyroll, or any anime streaming site that’s legal and has permission to post it.

If you’re on the hunt for something delicious, then might we recommend the snack known as Mont Blanc. This chestnut pureed snack can be found in not just Japan, but also places like Hong Kong, Romania, Italy, and Spain. If you ever find yourself heading towards those places, be sure to ask for this particular snack!

We’ll have some more awesome filler posts coming later this week, as well as new updates on the remainder of our anime convention tour. Plus, new developments regarding the future of D&A, and what our plans are for the years ahead. That’s all coming next time on D&A Anime Blog! It’s a part of you! ๐Ÿ™‚

In The Month of May, the otaku will Play!

Here they are! the cons that you’ll be looking for are located in the Northwest, Southwest, Westbound, and Southbound regions of North America. If you’re looking for where and when the next anime con is being held, then Cons Near U is your one-stop place to check out where the latest and greatest conventions for anime, manga, video game, and comic book enthusiasts, are going to be held!

Well not to worry, cuz’ the boys at D&A got everything your anime-loving heart desires! If you’re looking for an awesome lesser known anime title filled with action, fantasy, and some mystery, then we suggest that you check this show called Rokka: The Braves of the Six Flowers! The plot deals with six people who have been named the ‘Braves of the Six Flowers’, and are called by the Goddess of Fate to fight against a demon god. However during the actual gathering of the heroes seven show up as opposed to six, making the others think that one of them is a spy for the demon god, as well as an impostor. This title is subbed as of now, but you can check it out on any of the legal anime streaming sites like FUNimation and Crunchyroll.

souvenir

Looking for something delicious to sink your teeth into, then you’re gonna want to check this Japanese snack out! It’s known as a Yatsuhashi, and it’s made out of a rice gluten flour that’s sprinkled in cinnamon and sugar. (Not to mention that this snack is served as a confection souvenir or a miyagegashi.) This is a must try if you get the chance to travel to Japan, and if you do, don’t be afraid to tell the locals or your travel guide that D&A sent you! Cool? Awesome! ^.^

If you haven’t noticed yet we’ve decided to step our post game (no pun intended) up a little bit to give you guys (the fans) the full experience of what D&A Anime Blog is all about! So far you guys have been showing a lot of love and support for the blog/site thus far, and for that we can’t thank you enough. We just hope that we’ll be able to continue this awesome thing that we’re doing for years to come, and that you’ll do your part to keep the anime industry alive and well.

For the rest of the week we’ll be working on posting some anime cons for you guys to check out this month, and continue to update you on some more awesome additions and pages that may be coming to the site in the near future! ๐Ÿ™‚
