Filler Post: D&A’s Top 5 Ani-Minions (aka, Most Loyal Henchmen/Henchwomen)!

Every hero needs a sidekick! Well, not all of them do, as a percentage of them are anti-heroes that prefer to work alone. When it comes to villains however, just about all of them have a few henchmen to help take some of the villainous load off. Anime is no exception to this rule; as many of us fans have seen our fare share of what we like to call ‘Ani-Minions’, execute whatever orders their boss commands them to. Some of them have a ‘Saturday Morning Cartoon Villain Sidekick’ complex, while others can be just as ruthless as their boss. (If you want to go even deeper, sometimes the main henchman or woman turns out to be the primary antagonist the whole time!)

As with the main villains of the story, we’ve come to love some of the many second-in-command (or bottom of the barrel) henchmen that stay loyal to the cause; to be a pain in the butt for the protagonist. Tonight we bring you our Top 5 Ani-Minions that are loyal to the game of evil.

Number 5: Team Rocket (Original Members: Jesse, James, and Meowth)

Speaking of Saturday Morning Cartoons, who could forget this trio sent by Giovanni in an effort to capture Ash’s Pikachu – for the umteenth time! Much like a certain mustachioed evil scientist, Team Rocket is loyal to the cause and will do whatever it takes to get that Pikachuuuuu!!!!! XP

Number 4: Mukuro Ikusaba

Although she doesn’t get as much screen time (except when around her sister), Mukuro is one of the Despair Sisters who assisted Junko with her plans to cause despair throughout Hope’s Peak Academy. She admired her sibling and stayed loyal to her, even though Junko tried to kill her by stabbing her with an ice pick – which she blocked. She didn’t last long however; as she ended up portraying her sister two years after trapping the 78th class inside the school, only to die two episodes in on Danganronpa: The Animation.

shikabane-hime-kuro-2643

Number 3: Hokuto (The True Leader of the Seven Stars)

Hokuto is a powerful Shikabane who was created as a living human sacrifice; born to be killed as a child. Because of this she has no regrets, no obsessions, or even nature within her; making her one of the most powerful Shikabane yet! She’s a henchwoman who is really the primary antagonist of Makina and Ouri, as well as the true leader of the Seven Stars.

Kabuto_Part_1

Number 2: Kabuto Yakushi

There’s not a single Naruto fan who doesn’t recognize this face. The last time he was heard from was 2017, but for those who remember this medical Sound ninja, Kabuto is Orochimaru’s right-hand man who works for hims as a spy for various villages and people (including the Akatsuki). Naruto’s had a few run-ins with this grey-haired foe, as he can hold his own in battle with his Chakra Scalpel Technique. He was so loyal to Orochimaru he literally infused some of his cells into his own body – of course we all know how that story turned out…

Number 1: Captain Ginyu and the Ginyu Force

You can’t talk about the Frieza Saga without talking about one of the most loyal forces this side of the cosmos. They are the G-I-N-YU Force! Bound by loyalty to Frieza, Ginyu and his gang make their way to Planet Namek to assist in finding the Namekian dragon balls, all while dishing out their own brand of pain against the Z-Warriors. In spite of the fact that they all fell to mostly Vegeta (with Ginyu becoming a frog and dying later), the Ginyu Force stayed committed to the cause and were one of the most enthusiastic, confident, and loyal henchmen around!

That’s it for our Top 5! More posts to come so keep it locked n’ loaded next time on D&A Anime Blog; where anime is a part of you! ๐Ÿ™‚

Number 5: Naruto

Since 2001 the orange jacket ninja from the Hidden Leaf Village has made a name for himself as well as gained an impressive following, that is still going strong to this day. There isn’t a single anime convention in the U.S. or anywhere else where you won’t find people cosplaying Naruto or any of the other Hidden Leaf ninja (Akatsuki included). From manga to video games this action-packed series continues to play with the ‘big boys’ of the industry, and with Boruto around it doesn’t show any signs of stopping!

Number 4: Danganronpa

Although it hasn’t been around as long as titles like DBZ or Inuyasha has, Danganronpa has held its own in terms of gaining a grand following. Spawning two anime titles, three main PlayStation video game installments (with a spin-off title and another one on the way), Makoto Naegi and his classmates are carving a hell of a path for themselves! We guess they have the franchise’s mascot and main villain, Monokuma, to thank for that!

Number 3: Gundam

You can’t talk about popular anime franchises without talking about Gundam. This science-fiction franchise not only has a dedicated (90’s and 2000’s) fanbase, but it makes up 90% of the Japanese plastic-model market as well as pull in 80 billion Yen a year! These planet-named heroines will stop at nothing to save the world from darkness, so if you haven’t seen their adventures yet, you can stream their newest ones on Crunchyroll or FunimationNow. (Buy the DVD from RightStuf too!)

Number 1: Dragon Ball Z

One of the biggest franchises of all time has to be the Dragon Ball franchise! We’ve watched Goku grow up from a little kid, to being one of the most powerful saiyans raised on planet Earth. From movies to games DBZ has stood the test of time, and has gained a following that spans from almost three generations. Although it took an eighteen year hiatus the Dragon Ball franchise returned with two movies and Dragon Ball Super. There is one more movie coming after Super ends, but we’ve also heard through the grapevine, that another season might be coming – might!

There’s many other anime franchises out there that we haven’t covered, but just like the ones above they will hold a special place in our hearts. That will do it for this Top 5 filler post as of right now, but there’s more on the way! ๐Ÿ™‚

D&A Anime Blog: Fanfiction Update!!

Hey guys n’ gals, just a quick little update announcement about our two new crossover fanfiction titles. We’ve changed up the illustration as well as the plotlines for each title, and even added a few original characters to the cast. The new names of our titles is Sonic Beatdown: Danganronpa Silver, and Panty & Stocking with Sonic & Knuckles!

Sonic Beatdown (Danganronpa Silver) Fanfiction Title

Sonic Beatdown: Danganronpa Silver, is a crossover fanfiction title between the Sonic the Hedgehog and Danganronpa franchises. It is also the first of four multi-crossover titles under the Sonic Beatdown fanfiction series. The setting takes place in an MMOARPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Action Role Playing Game) reality, after a cosmic event called “The Great Shift” happened over 1,000 years ago. Chapters in each of the four titles are told in first-person POV by several members of the main cast.

Setting/Overview:

Over 1,000 years ago, a cosmic event known as “The Great Shift” caused all of time and space, and even reality, to play out like an MMOARPG game. 70% of Earth’s population became normal NPCs (Non-Playable Characters) with normal lives, while the other 30% of the population became fighters and battlers against monsters, leveling up their stats, collecting loot and items, and more.

Plot/Synopsis:

In 2190, more than 80% of Earth’s population has been robotized by Eggman Nega in order to create his android army. Silver has been chasing down his arch-nemesis for many years, and has finally located his base. The psychic hedgehog infiltrates the Giga Maze Fortress; Eggman Nega’s HQ, and battles against a small army of robotized humans that were once citizens. He finds the evil scientist in the control room as Silver was prepared to put a stop to all of Nega’s madness once and for all. After a semi-lengthy battle Silver comes out on top, however Eggman Nega had one more trick up his sleeve. What Silver didn’t realize was that the battlefield they were fighting on, was the platform for Eggman Nega’s newest invention; The A.R.T. Machine (aka, The Alternate Reality Transporter Machine).

After flipping the switch Silver was blinded by a white light as he felt his body being transported to another world; molecule by molecule. Upon coming to the hedgehog found himself in a new city called Towa City, however the state of the city was in more peril than his own future. In the wake of the events of The Tragedy 50% of the population has been infected with ‘Despair Disease’, by the video that Junko Enoshima created. She and her sister Mukuro are the main trigger behind the uprising at Hope’s Peak Academy, as well as all of the tragic events that followed suit. Silver wanted to return to his time and defeat Eggman Nega and foil his plans once and for all, but after seeing the horrors of what the remaining people of Towa City are going through, he vows to help end their despair at the hands of the Despair Sisters. He won’t be going at it alone however; as Blaze and Shadow (who works for the G.U.N. Subdivision of Towa City) join up with him to battle against diseased victims, level up their stats, and defeat Junko Enoshima and her twin sister Mukuro. Will hope be on their side? Or will despair cripple their hopeful efforts…?

This title bears no connection to its predecessor fanfic; Sonic Beatdown: Danganronpa Silver, but it does take place in the same MMOARPG reality that was caused by “The Great Shift”. The chapters of course are told in first-person POV by members of the main cast.

Plot/Synopsis:

This story is divided into two acts (two story arcs). Act One is a retelling of the first season of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, only with a few small changes. It is soon revealed that the man is actually Elias Ainsworth – a magus. After a little bit of teleportation magic both Chise and the magus find themselves at his cottage in rural England. At first she didn’t know what to expect the moment she was sold to highest bidder at an auction, but Chise is now under the care of the magus Ainsworth and living in his beautiful cottage as an apprentice, and soon to be bride.

D&A’s Crunchyroll Spotlight: Citrus!

Happy 1st of May everyone, and welcome to another installment of our Crunchyroll Spotlight! If you’re a fan of the Yuri/Romance genre, then have we got an anime title for you to check out! Tonight our title that’s under the spotlight is a little show called Citrus

Citrus-06_02.12_2018.02.10_17.19.16

Here’s the overview; Yuzu Aihara is a fun-loving and fashionable city girl who transfers to a new school after her mother gets remarried. Of course – that school happens to be an all-girl conservative school. Due to being preoccupied with shopping and boys (like most girls her age) Yuzu had a hard time fitting in, as she clashed with members of the student council; one of them being Mei Aihara, who is the hard-working yet cold student president. It’s soon discovered that Mei is Yuzu’s new step-sister, and soon finds herself having to share a bedroom with a girl she can’t stand. slowly but surely the animosity between the girls begins to lessen, as they both get the chance to learn more about one another. In Mei’s case however, her relationship with her new step-sister is a little more “closer” than she imagined.

So far that’s all we’ve got on this show, if you’re interested then you can stream Citrus on Crunchyroll or FunimationNOW. There’s more filler posts coming up later on this week so stay tuned! ๐Ÿ™‚
