D&A Anime Blog: The Return of Miscellany Monday!!

We’re so excited to have the chance to bring this segment back to the blog! After a month’s long hiatus this fan favorite of ours makes its triumphant return. If you’re ready for some lesser-known anime titles as well as some delicious Japanese snacks, then you’re gonna love what we have for you in this installment! In case you haven’t heard the news, we’ll be having our Miscellany Monday segment every other Monday a month.

This time around we’ve decided to do the posts for this segments as well as our other segments on a bi-weekly schedule. We believe that this will give us some time to work on the quality of our work in finding great shows to check out on Crunchyroll and FunimationNow. If you have any suggestions on some titles you want us to review or other questions, just hit us up on our Contact Us page.

If you’re looking for a lesser-known anime title about the granddaughter of a Yazuka boss becoming a teacher, then check out the title known as Gokusen! If you’re looking for a fantastic dish that you can try in Japan (and any of its areas and regions), then you’re gonna love the taste of Okonomiyaki! That will do it for this week’s return of Miscellany Monday. Even though you’ll have to wait two weeks from today for the next installment, there’s still more excitement we have in store for you! Stay golden, my friends! ๐Ÿ™‚

D&A Friday’s: When It Comes to Anime Crime Dramas, It’s Kill or Be Killed!

Normally this would be the part where we’d say something right before we give you our overview of our pick, but we’re gonna skip that and get right to the good stuff. Cool? Alright, let’s begin.

1458726446-0998df711eac9a4c8643e9e6345b4a84

Are you looking for an anime title that’s akin to The Sapranos or even The Godfather? Then you’re gonna love this anime title known as 91-Days! The story takes place in a town called Lawless, Illinois where Angelo Lagusta is a young man whose family was killed during a mafia dispute caused by the Vanetti Family. Now he wants to wadge war and revenge against that family, including its don, for what happened seven years after that fateful day. Thanks to a letter sent to him by a friend of his father’s, Angelo now goes under the name ‘Avilio Bruno’ in order to befriend the don’s son, Nero Vanetti, just so he can get closer to the don himself. (And extract his revenge.) The series spans over a 91-day time lapse filled with revenge, blood-shed, and betrayal. If this show has peaked your interest, then you can check it out on Crunchyroll and FunimationNow.

In just two weeks it will be time for us to head off to our final anime convention for 2017, Thy Geekdom Con! Join us as we celebrate the 28th birthday of one of D&A’s Founders, Donte’ J. Lewis, on November 4th and 5th at the Crown Plaza hotel in Claymont, DE. Also on the quick update chart; starting January 1st of 2018, we’ll be rolling out new times for our most-loved segments in order to keep up our commitment in bringing you the best reviews in anime and manga. (We’re even reviving some segments that have gone on hiatus since this past Summer.)

Also coming on January 1st is the launch of our music playlist page that is now shifting over to the name Bassandramada: Kontrol Room! As always we appreciate all the love and support that you’ve given us thus far, and we hope to continue doing what we do best while giving it our all! Stay gold, my friends! ๐Ÿ˜‰

We’ve got cons in the Southwest and Northeast Bound regions of the U.S. for you and your friends to chillax and have fun. Don’t forget, if you happen to be heading towards Claymont, DE for the first weekend in November, we’ll be celebrating the 28th birthday of one of the founding members of D&A Anime Blog, Donte’ J. Lewis!

D&A Friday the 13th: Superstitions, Anime Titles & Updates!

So it’s Friday the 13th, eh? That’s cool, although we’re not that superstitious about it. (Michael Myers, Jason, or Junko Enoshima hasn’t slashed our throats in yet so that’s a good sign.) Now that we’ve gotten our scare tactics out of the way, we’ve got some great anime titles and updates for you all to check out!

p186419_b_v7_aa

If you’re looking for something haunting and scary to watch on this (supposed) unlucky day, then gaze your eyes on this anime title known as Blood+! This series was inspired by the 2000 anime film Blood: The Last Vampire, however this title only borrows a few of the allusions seen from the movie. Saya Otonashi is an ordinary anemic amnesiac school girl who’s blood possesses the power to kill an evil bat-like creature called Chiropteran. Armed with a special katana to help her fight against the threat, Saya travels the world to not only rid it of these creatures, but to gain the secrets of her past and to help recover her identity. This series is filled with action and horror fiction, so only fans who are 18 and up can check this series out. (On Crunchyroll or FunimationNow, that is!)

Now it’s update time! Although we said that the Kontrol Room will open October 23rd, we’ve decided to push it to January 1, 2018 in order to give ourselves (and our DJ/Producer) more time to create some top-notch tracks for you guys to listen to. Also if you haven’t heard the news regarding our 2018 tour, we unfortunately had to cancel three of our appearances due to LOF (Lack Of Finances). We do however have a brand new 18+ panel that we’re hoping to debut on one of our con stops known as D&A Against Humanity! It will have all the uncensored fun that you love about Cards Against Humanity (CAH), only with us behind the wheel! (And two lucky fans or ours!)

We’ve got more filler posts and more anime cons coming around the corner, so keep your eyes peeled for what’s comin’ up next on D&A Anime Blog! It’s a part of you! ๐Ÿ˜‰

D&A Friday’s: Of Masterminds and Anime Conventions!

So we’ve reached the oh-so spooky month of Halloween, and already people are making their way to their nearest Halloween costume store (or Party City – Shoutouts to them)! If you’re an anime fan who loves to cosplay, then every day is Halloween, especially during anime conventions. Speaking of which we’ve got some cons for you guys to check out for the month of October coming next week, but for right now we’ve got some awesome anime titles for you to check out!

terror in resonance

If you’re looking for a mystery-thriller about the struggle of terrorism, then you’re gonna love Terror in Resonance! The story takes place in an alternate timeline of the present, where a sudden major terrorist attack has just decimated Tokyo. While the FBI are on the case to figure out who the culprit(s) might be behind the attack, they find a cryptic piece of evidence in the form of a video that has now sent Tokyo into a state of paranoia. Rumor has it that the masterminds behind this attack are two teenage boys (who shan’t be named) who thought it was a good idea to “shake up the world”. Will they get away with it? Or has the FBI found some leads that might trace the evidence they found to them? Find out on Crunchyroll and FunimationNow!

We’re happy to announce that we’re currently in production of creating some high quality music tracks for you to listen to, while you’re surfing through the blog! Although there will be 16 tracks in total for our Kontrol Room playlist, there might be some hidden ones that you can only find on our Patreon page. We’ll be working hard to bring you some locations for some anime conventions in your region, plus some updates for the birthday celebration of D&A Founder Donte’ Lewis, as he and Aaron Goldman make their way to Thy Geekdom Con the first weekend in November!

Stay tuned, my friends! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The remaining population built massive space stations known as “foundations” in order to keep track of all the space activities that would be occur. Shima Katase has just finished the Space Academy’s Entrance Exams, and is now on her way to the Earth-like foundation known as Stellvia (the titicular foundation). There’s so much excitement going on between Crunchyroll’s new Fall lineup, and the recent premiere of No Game, No Life Zero from the Anime Film Festival in LA! As for us back home we’ve got your fixin’s for some Friday night anime and manga titles, including a lil’ somethin’ for the ladies. 4043

Alright ladies (and a few guys – don’t worry, we’re not judging). Are you on the lookout for an awesome anime title about romance, a little bit of comedy, and possibly a reverse harem? Then look no further than the title proudly known as Ouran High School Host Club! If you know the story and are familiar with the cast, then kudos friends! If not, then check this out!

Haruhi Fujioka is a scholar student at Ouran Academy, and while trying to find a place where she can study and do her work, she comes across the Third Music Room where the academy’s host club is located. The host club consists of six male students who entertain their female “clients” with tea and sweets. Haruhi somehow knocks over an antique vase valued at $80,000 (8,000,000 Yen), and now has to pay back that debt through becoming the host club’s errand boy. (Unknown to them until later on in the series that Haruhi is actually a girl.)

Eventually Haruhi gets promoted to full-host status after the members of the club see that she’s a “natural” at being a host for the club, which she believes will help her pay down her debt much quicker. You can stream this title on Crunchyroll and of course FunimationNow!

Stick around for more filler post action and more additions to our Voice Actor Spotlight series coming up in just a bit! Next time on D&A Anime Blog! ๐Ÿ™‚

library-war

If you love libraries, military action, and romance all wrapped up in the same title, then you’re gonna wanna check out this lesser-known gem called Library War! The series itself deals with an alternate version of the Japanese Statement of Intellectual Freedom in Libraries, with the terms of the Freedom of the Library Law modified as well. Contrary to popular belief the Media Betterment Committee and their agents are charged with targeting censored library books and reading material, that they believe to be harmful to the people that read them at the library.

Local governments in Japan have created anti-MBC organizations in order to combat against the raids of the MBC, because of the Media Betterment Act that was set into place, and enforced by the agents of the MBC. Iku Kasahara is a new recruit that has joined the task force of the Kanto Library Base, after being inspired to do so by a high ranking defense force member of the base. In spite of the challenges and trials that she faces throughout the series, Iku is determined to do whatever it takes to protect the very books that she swore she would protect! You can stream this anime title on FunimationNow and also on Crunchyroll.

There’s more filler post action coming up the rest of this week, so be sure to stop by if you wanna see what we’ve got cooking in the D&A kitchen!
