D&A Anime Blog: March 2020 Anime Cons!

Hey guys n’ gals! We’re only a couple of weeks away from the first day of Spring, and with that comes warmer weather and more anime conventions for you to check out if you haven’t already. The March list may be a tad short as we’re trying not to replicate any conventions that we’ve already listed, and as a reminder if you plan on attending any of the conventions we list on this post, wash and sanitize your hands and any surfaces that you may touch, and if you feel ill before the con, it’s best not to attend. (Coronavirus sucks, but we want you all to be safe.) Now here’s all of the March cons we found online for you guys, and until our next post, stay safe and stay nerdy! ๐Ÿ˜‰

D&A Anime Blog: February Anime Cons 2020!

So we’re now into the second month of 2020, and just three days away from the big ‘V’ day – Valentine’s Day. With a new year comes new conventions, and this month we’ll be highlighting some new cons for you guys to check out! Some of these cons we didn’t even know existed until now, so if you get the chance to go to them, send us some pics! ๐Ÿ˜‰

D&A Anime Blog: Best Con Moments!

Since we’ve launched our blog back in 2016, we never imagined that it would reach the level that it currently is now. Between the fans, the voice actors, and all of the conventions we’ve gone to in the last ten years, we’ve had some awesome moments as the dynamic duo of D&A Anime Blog. (A. Goldman, and Yours Truly.) Although we’re still growing as a blog and taking on new experiences in our lives, it’s been quite a fun ride doing this – and we ain’t stopping anytime soon! Here’s a handful of some of our best con moments between other fans, as well as voice actors.

Going to Zenkaikon for the First Time!

Back in 2017 we went to our first anime convention in another state. We didn’t know what to expect when we got there, but after going for our first time, Zenkaikon was a blast! We’ll be returning for Zenkaikon 2020, so if you didn’t get the chance to see us in 2017 or 2019, come check out Zenkaikon (and say ‘hi’ if you see us)!

Meeting Monica Rial for the First Time!

Anime USA 2018

20+ years in the VA biz? Check! Over 500 characters to her name? Check! The Most Iconic Voice in the World? Yep! Have we met her? Yes we did! (Twice!) Needless to say, Monica Rial is one of the coolest ladies you’ll even met; next to Collen, Jamie, Felecia, and many others. She’s also the voice actor welcome wagon if you’re an aspiring voice actor, and we’re hoping that we get to meet her once again.

Going to Thy Geekdom Con for the First Time

Although this convention is now a four-day con, we were able to check out this convention back in 2017 (on the birthday of D&A’s Donte’ J. Lewis) and met One Punch Man himself, Max Mittleman. Even though it’s been three years since our first appearance at this convention, we hope that we’ll one day get the chance to go back to this con some day.

Although the first month of the year is officially in the books, there’s plenty more moments and memories to be made at the coming conventions that we got lined up for 2020. Until next post guys n’ girls, stay nerdy! ๐Ÿ˜‰

D&A Anime Blog: January 2020 Anime Cons!

D&A Anime Blog: Animore 2020 Post-Con Recap!

Hey guys! We’ve now just returned from our first anime convention of 2020; right in our own backyard. This is Animore’s 5th year this year, so from the bottom of our hearts we want to congratulate them on their 5-year anniversary! Speaking of which this weekend was our 4-year anniversary, so it’s hard to believe that this whole journey started out during the grand snow storm of 2016. From that point on we’ve transformed from a cosplay photo website to what you see and read before you today. With all that out of the way, here’s our 2020 recap of this year’s Animore anime convention!

Sadly this year we didn’t get a whole lot of cosplay pictures as we’d like, but nevertheless we had an awesome time! We returned as guests once again, and the attendance numbers this year were a little bit higher than last year’s – which is awesome because we’ve made some new friends. Other than us as guests there were some awesome cosplay presenters and voice actors; including returning voice actress Felecia Angelle, who you might have heard in titles like Danganronpa, High School DxD, Dr. Stone, and so much more! We’ve also had a few card and video game tournaments as well; including Smash Bros. Ultimate, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Mario Kart.

Since it’s the 100th anniversary of the Roaring 20’s, we also had a “Great Gatsby” style formal dance with Electro Swing music, followed by the non-rave dance with DJ favorites Powerline, GrooveCube, and Confetti The First. This year also marks the last year that Animore will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Baltimore, and in 2021 it will make its move to the Baltimore Renaissance right across the street from the Hyatt. So as an overall grade, we give our backyard anime convention an 8 / 10 (only because our other favorite voice actor Anthony Bowling couldn’t make it T.T), and of course for our 5th anniversary in January 2021, we will be returning to our home base con in full nerdy glory! ๐Ÿ™‚

That will do it for our recap, so until next post, stay nerdy my friends! ๐Ÿ˜‰

New York, New York! D&A’s Going To AnimeNYC 2020!

With 2020 around the corner, we thought about stepping a little bit out of our comfort zone in terms of expanding the physical presence of our brand. So we’re proud to announce that thanks to our fans (and you guys), D&A is officially going to NYC! We’ve had a lot of fans ask us if we were going to New York for AnimeNYC, and since we’ve never been to the Big Apple (yet), we thought – why not, right? So for our #YearFour journey, our first new convention will be AnimeNYC! Hope you’re ready for us Big Apple! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Long-Awaited Update: Anime USA Recap & Hollywood, California!

Hey guys, sorry we’ve been gone for a couple of weeks, but things have just been astronomically crazy with the last 16 days! After coming back from Anime USA, we found ourselves on another weekend trip to the City of Angels, Los Angeles, California! We got the chance to drive through Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, and Hollywood Blvd. (Plus even took a few pics form our favorite actors on and off screen at the Hollywood Walk of Fame.) We’ll be working on adding the newest pics to our Anime USA Cosplay Mosiac as soon as possible, but in the meantime here’s our recap of this year’s event.

D&A Founder A. Goldman with an awesome cosplayer!

At this year’s AUSA, we noticed one slight difference compared to last year; the attendance numbers. In 2018 there was a total of 5,000+ cosplayers, anime fans, and gamers alike; plus we had the chance of meeting superstar VA’s like Kira Buckland, Monica Rial, Lisa Ortiz, Crispin Freeman, and more! This time around we got the chance to see Bryce Papenbrook, Faye Mata, Cherami Leigh, and many others. Our second consecutive trip to AUSA was awesome! We met many of our fans and followers, made new friends and fans, and celebrated the 30th birthday of D&A founding member, D.J. Lewis. The slightly low turnout was caused by the date of the con happening on the same date as larger cons like Anime Weekend Atlanta and several others. In spite of that a lot of con-goers came and we all turn’d up!

One thing that we did a little differently this time around, was check out the Host Club Cafe. It was around 10pm Saturday night and the rave party didn’t start for at least another hour, so we headed up to the Host Club where we had a couple drinks and listened to some tracks (most of which were hip-hop and some electronica). Next year AUSA 2020 will take place in September at the Marriott in Wardman Park, so if you weren’t able to come out this year, we’re making our third return to this con next Fall.

On our next post we’ll be updating you guys on what our near future plans will be for our #YearFour journey, which may include a brand new con appearance in another state! (New York or Los Angeles, perhaps?) Until next post, stay nerdy! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anime Convention Review: Anime USA!

With only a few weeks remaining until our next/last anime convention of the year, for this post we’ve decided to look back on a convention that we’ve had the pleasure of attending last year. Anime USA is a three-day hotel-based convention located in the Woodley area/district of Washington D.C. inside the Marriott. Last year we got the chance to attend this convention and meet a lot of great people, fans who recognized us from other cons, and voice actors that we’ve been trying to meet but never got the chance to – until now! The hotel itself is conveniently right next to the DC Metro, and is also next to a bunch of eateries as well, so you’re not too far if you’re looking for food or if you’re trying to get to the hotel.

On the outside the Marriott doesn’t seem like much, but once you walk inside, it’s actually larger then you’d expect. The hotel itself has its convention built right in, so there were many conference rooms with high ceilings and a couple hundred chairs. All of the main panels as well as the Dealer’s Room were all on the same floor, which is very convenient for fans and other consumers of anime and manga. With it being a mid-sized anime convention, AUSA has its Autograph area on the upper floor, and made it easier on fans wanting autographs from beloved VAs by putting them all on the same floor.

We of course got the chance to chat it up with a few favorites; such as Lisa Ortiz, Kira Buckland, Monica Rial, Crispin Freeman, and more! There were a lot of great panels that we’ve gotten the chance to go to, and the gaming area? Wow! It’s like they have a built-in arcade with classics from the 80’s and 90’s. Nerds and geeks of all ages and creeds have got to check this con out, and although it’s been around for 20 years, its mid-sized 3,000+ attendee size has something for everybody. This year will be our second consecutive year attending this con, and we’ve gotta say, we’ve made a lot of friends last year, and we plan to do the same this year!

That will do it for us on this anime convention review on AUSA. If you didn’t get the chance to go last year, there’s still time, but you’d better hurry! Until next post, take care of each other, and stay nerdy my friends! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anime Cons: October 2019 Edition!

Man, it’s been a month since we’ve made our last post, but while we were gone we’ve picked up a few more awesome followers. For those who have just joined us for the very first time, thank you! For those who have been with us since day one, we can’t thank you enough. September’s been rather…interesting, but nevertheless we’re back with some awesome posts and content. To kick off Halloween month we’ve got some anime conventions for you to check out, as well as a brand new announcement!

With October being Halloween month we’ve got some original music coming our way in the form of a 3-track EP known as Avid Halloween!
