D&A Anime Blog: Isekai Quartet: Season 1 Review!

Sorry this one got delayed, but here we are with another anime review for Isekai Week from the crossover series Isekai Quartet! About a decade ago we were wondering if we were ever going to get an anime crossover series (and not the one with DBZ and One Piece or that other one that you guys might remember), and in 2019, the anime gods have blessed us with this four-way (soon to be five) school-life series simply known as Isekai Quartet. All of the dub VA’s from the original shows reprise their roles in this awesome project; which includes Re:Zero – Starting Life In Another World, Overlord, Saga Of Tanya, and Konosuba. As of right now there’s a second season in the works coming out this year, and it features newcomers from Shield Hero! (Hopefully Cautious Hero and Slime get added in the third season. Fingers crossed!)

These three would never be in the same show…until now!

We stumbled upon this series just two months ago today, so if you haven’t gotten the chance to see just what this show is all about, we’ll give you a brief rundown:

Everything was peaceful (or something to that effect) in the worlds or lands of Re:Zero, Konosuba, Overlord, and finally Saga Of Tanya, until a magical button appears and all of the main characters press said button. They soon are transported to a parallel world where the magic of school life begins. That’s pretty much it!

Basically the whole first season takes all of those “what-if” moments that most of us have written fan fiction stories about, and packed them into a 12-episode isekai comedy about school life – with characters that you would never even imagine seen interacting with one another. Out of the four main series’ Tanya is the most serious and is a natural leader with an iron fist, but now out of her element in this new type of life she’s not accustomed to, she gels quite well with a couple of the Overlord cast; especially with Ainz Ooal Gown and Demiurge. There are all types of funny moments that happen in the series – some of which include Aqua, but not in the way that you’d think.

Overall as a whole, this series is a mix of school life, isekai (of course), and comedy. I’m looking forward to what season two will have in store; considering the main cast of Rising of the Shield Hero will be making their debut. Sorry this review couldn’t be a little bit longer, but the plot of the show is more along the lines of entertainment than it is complexity. That being said, you can now check this show out on Crunchyroll or FunimationNow.

That will do it for this post and review, and until next post, stay nerdy! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Cautious Hero: Overview & Impression Review!

Here we are in a brand new year as well as a brand new decade! For 2020 we’ve decided to do a few things differently in terms of posting content, so for this week (as we mentioned in our last post) we’re doing the ‘A-B’ method; with Week A being Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and Week B being Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. This week is Isekai Week and we’re kicking it off with an overview and impression review on the anime series Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered But Overly Cautious!

They’re both at LVL. 1, but ‘his’ stats aren’t! XP

The Overview:

Check it! So the story revolves around Ristarte, a goddess who has been placed in charge of saving the world of Gaeabrande from a Demon Lord. To do this she has to summon a human hero, but not just any hero – one that will become strong enough to take on the Demon Lord, as well as survive the S-Class world of Gaeabrande. Ristarte (or Rista) finds the hero that she’s looking for; a man by the name of Seiya Ryuguin. Everything appears to be going well, but there’s just one small detail that Rista discovered about Seiya – he’s way too cautious about everything (especially her) to a somewhat unorthodox degree. Although this drives the goddess crazy, once Seiya reaches a level that he’s comfortable with and sets foot on the grounds of Gaeabrande, Rista sees that his methods and reasoning for being so cautious are well justified.

First Impression & (Brief) Review:

So we’ve gotten the chance to watch several episodes of this series, and as far as first impressions go, it’s a pretty entertaining series. Sometimes as I watch an episode or two, and Rista has one of her funny moments with Seiya, it slightly reminds me of the relationship that Aqua has with Kazuma in Konosuba. The Action RPG (or MMORPG) elements that are thrown into the mix with this series does add the feeling of you playing a video game. (Danmachi kind of has the same flow in terms of these elements as well.) With Seiya’s over cautious persona and Rista’s well…aloof yet inner infatuation with him, the two of them are a rather interesting and entertaining duo to watch. I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up in the third season of Isekai Quartet (trust me, it’s gonna happen), but as far as this series goes, it’s one to definitely check out.

Well guys, that will do it for the first anime overview/review for 2020, and as always until next post, stay nerdy my friends! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Guess Who’s Performing At Coachella 2020? (And Not Just The ‘Regulars’!)

2020 is FINALLY here!! With that comes our first post of the new year, and what juicy info do we stumble upon while surfing the interweebs? Our favorite Vocaloid is officially booked for the one…the only…Coachella. We’re not making this up! We found this out less than two hours ago on our social media page. It’s safe to say that any fan of Hatsune Miku is probably doing this at their computer or laptop:

Whoohoo!!

Miku has come such a long way since her debut, and we’re so proud of where her newest adventures are taking her! As for us and what our new adventures will be for the new year, we’ll be starting a new weekly “A-B” posting format; with “Week A” being Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and “Week B” being Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Our first Week A posts will kick off Monday, January 6th with the theme being Isekai Week!

Also, next week we kick off our convention adventures with our backyard con known as Animore. While there we’ll be going live on Instagram throughout the con, so if you want to know what we’re up to or how the con is, check out our Instagram for all the behind-the-scenes action! Happy New Year to all of our fans, followers, and voice actors, and we hope to see you guys at all of the cons that we’ll be going to!

Until next post, stay gold! ๐Ÿ˜‰

New York, New York! D&A’s Going To AnimeNYC 2020!

With 2020 around the corner, we thought about stepping a little bit out of our comfort zone in terms of expanding the physical presence of our brand. So we’re proud to announce that thanks to our fans (and you guys), D&A is officially going to NYC! We’ve had a lot of fans ask us if we were going to New York for AnimeNYC, and since we’ve never been to the Big Apple (yet), we thought – why not, right? So for our #YearFour journey, our first new convention will be AnimeNYC! Hope you’re ready for us Big Apple! ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s Been A Long Day (Year)…

Actually, it’s been a long year. It’s hard to believe that this is the final month of 2019, and in less than 30 days we’ll be looking at this year through the rear-view mirror. Has it been easy for us to get posts and content up on our blog on a consistent basis? Not at all. However, we’re holding our heads up high for the new year, as we’ll be stepping just a little bit out of our comfort zone. This includes new anime reviews on 2020 Winter/Spring titles, a new Discord channel, new music (which will actually be on its own blog/site but you can listen on our Sidebar Music Player), and new anime cons!

Avidd Mindset Mindgames EP, coming early 2020!!

Looking back we feel that we’ve sort have come a long way since starting the blog back in the cold Winter of 2016. What was meant to be a page filled with convention cosplay photos has now turned into an interactive site where you can read anime, manga, and video game reviews, watch con videos, and (in early 2020) listen to music. In spite of the fact that our reach on the physical end is financially limited, we plan on pushing forward to deliver our best nerdy content that we two guys can possibly bring! With that in mind here are some candidates for our upcoming anime (and movie) reviews (so far):

Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered But Overly Cautious

There’s been a lot of Isekai anime titles that have come out this year, so to kick off the new year we’ll be reviewing a new favorite (next to Konosuba) known as Cautious Hero! Ever wonder what its like to have freakishly high stats (HP, MP, ATK, DEF, SPD, etc.) but a special trait that causes you to be, well…overly cautious about everything? Seiya does!

Gotta go fast! (And get tickets!)

Sonic The Hedgehog Movie (2020)

After the backlash Paramount suffered at the hands of the NOT-dead Sonic fanbase, they finally got the design that we all know and love from our childhood right where it should be! Once the movie officially comes out, you better believe there will be a review! ๐Ÿ˜‰

We’re not sure what will be in store in terms of anime for the 2020 year, but based on what we’re seeing already (and what may be over the horizon), we’re in for quite a treat! Well, that’s all we’ve got on this post for now, but in the meantime we’ll do our best to have some filler post content up. (Of course if you wanna see what we’ve been doing behind the scenes, head to our Instagram page!)

Until next post, stay nerdy! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sonic The Hedgehog Movie: They FINALLY Fixed It!!!

Awhile back we made a post about the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie and how TERRIBLE they made Sonic look, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned about the fanbase of this franchise, it’s NOT dead! In fact (and we’ll admit that we’re on the side of the fanbase on this), we hope Hollywood and Paramount learned their lesson on this, and now that they’ve actually listened (yeah, we couldn’t believe it either), we should do our part and go see the movie – if you’re a Sonic fan, that is! Although it’s kinda weird that the movie is coming out on Valentine’s Day, we can tell by the NEW and GREATLY IMPROVED trailer, that it’ll be a fun and wild ride.

D&A Anime Blog: #YearFour Journey and 2020 Plans!

With just six weeks left of the 2019 year, we’re setting up our New Year’s Resolutions to be better than the year before. With all of the twists and turns we’ve had throughout the year, as well as what’s been going down in the anime community, it’s been rather hectic maintaining consistency both here, and on our social media pages. However with a new year comes a brand new beginning, and that beginning will start the first phase of our brand new journey. January 11, 2020 will mark the four year anniversary of when we first launched our brand, and for D&A’s 4th birthday, we’ll be working on some new and exciting projects!

Avidd Mindset [Original]
Avidd Mindset DJ/Producer Logo

One of our new projects will be original music produced by D&A founding member Donte’ J. Lewis, under the moniker Avidd Mindset. Next year we’ll be working on creating a special playlist where fans can hear some of his upcoming Chiptune, Hip-Hop and Electronic music beats. If things go well, you may also get the chance to hear his music on Soundcloud, CD Baby, Spotify, and other music streaming services.

Junko [Fanfiction Cover]
New Danganronpa Fanfiction “Junko”

Next up will be some long-awaited fanfiction! Earlier this year we said that we would hold off on bringing any fanfiction to the site, but after thinking about it, we’ve decided to bring it in slowly but surely. Our first fanfiction will be from the anime series Danganronpa entitled Junko. We’ll be posting this fanfic on Fanfiction.net between March and April 2020.

And finally, we’ll be going to Anime NYC 2020 for the very first time. If you live in the area or if you’re following us on social media from New York, you’ll be able to see us live and in person! Also we’ll be working on launching our own Discord channel, where fans can meet up and even chat with us about anime, what we can do differently, and what new features you want to see from us. We’ll keep you updated on what new plans we have going on our fourth year as an active anime blog, so until next post, stay nerdy! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Long-Awaited Update: Anime USA Recap & Hollywood, California!

Hey guys, sorry we’ve been gone for a couple of weeks, but things have just been astronomically crazy with the last 16 days! After coming back from Anime USA, we found ourselves on another weekend trip to the City of Angels, Los Angeles, California! We got the chance to drive through Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, and Hollywood Blvd. (Plus even took a few pics form our favorite actors on and off screen at the Hollywood Walk of Fame.) We’ll be working on adding the newest pics to our Anime USA Cosplay Mosiac as soon as possible, but in the meantime here’s our recap of this year’s event.

D&A Founder A. Goldman with an awesome cosplayer!

At this year’s AUSA, we noticed one slight difference compared to last year; the attendance numbers. In 2018 there was a total of 5,000+ cosplayers, anime fans, and gamers alike; plus we had the chance of meeting superstar VA’s like Kira Buckland, Monica Rial, Lisa Ortiz, Crispin Freeman, and more! This time around we got the chance to see Bryce Papenbrook, Faye Mata, Cherami Leigh, and many others. Our second consecutive trip to AUSA was awesome! We met many of our fans and followers, made new friends and fans, and celebrated the 30th birthday of D&A founding member, D.J. Lewis. The slightly low turnout was caused by the date of the con happening on the same date as larger cons like Anime Weekend Atlanta and several others. In spite of that a lot of con-goers came and we all turn’d up!

I finally got to meet the Voice Queen herself, Monica Rial! ๐Ÿ™‚

One thing that we did a little differently this time around, was check out the Host Club Cafe. It was around 10pm Saturday night and the rave party didn’t start for at least another hour, so we headed up to the Host Club where we had a couple drinks and listened to some tracks (most of which were hip-hop and some electronica). Next year AUSA 2020 will take place in September at the Marriott in Wardman Park, so if you weren’t able to come out this year, we’re making our third return to this con next Fall.

On our next post we’ll be updating you guys on what our near future plans will be for our #YearFour journey, which may include a brand new con appearance in another state! (New York or Los Angeles, perhaps?) Until next post, stay nerdy! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Get This! Cruchyroll and Webtoon Are Joining Forces!!

While doing our usual check-up of our social media for updates and other things, we’ve stumbled upon some rather exciting news! Crunchyroll, one of our favorite anime streaming services, is joining forces with Webtoon, the digital comics website dedicated to webtoons. What does this mean? It means that Crunchyroll and Webtoon will be co-producing animated content from the webtoons that have been created. This is very exciting news because this means that Crunchyroll will have brand new original anime content and series coming out, and if you’re a webtoon creator, this is an opportunity to showcase your creation to the masses! That’s our 411, and until next post, stay nerdy! ๐Ÿ˜‰
