Welcome to our Anime Episode of the Week sub-page! Here we do a full review on an episode from an anime title of our own choosing, and will contain a ‘dry sense of humor’ like many of the reviews seen on our Anime of the Week sub-page. If you have any suggestions on an episode from an anime title that you want us to review, let us know on our Contact Us page! 🙂
Our Anime Episode of the Week is…
Soul Eater: Season 1 Episode 3
You can’t beat a great series like this! Back when A. Goldman and I were in high school we would talk about this title all the time, and our favorite episode was this one. If you’re a Soul Eater fan then you already know how high-strung serious Death the Kid is about symmetry. (He basically lives, eats, and breathes it!)
I always found it to be hilarious whenever he goes into one of his symmetrical rants, and I’m pretty sure you do too. I think the third episode was like a spotlight episode for him; where we get to see him symmetrically at his best even when everything else (including the Thompson Sisters hair styles, height, and boob sizes) is at its worst, sort of. So far in this episode one of the funniest scenes was when Liz and Patty prepare to fight the mummies inside the pyramid, and Kid is nowhere to be seen. Turns out that he was so worried about the symmetrical position of the painting inside his room, that he ditched the sisters before the battle just so he could check to see if it was straight. (To some people that would’ve resulted in F.I.A. or Foot-In-Ass.)
To some degree, Death the Kid’s love and obsession for symmetry is what helped him and the Thompson Sisters defeat the mummy boss and collect the soul. Even though the right side of his hair is striped and the left isn’t (ironically speaking), Kid values the art of symmetry and will do whatever it takes to make sure that everything he does is symmetrical. (I wonder how symmetrical he’ll be during the ‘love-making’ process?)

WELCOME TO ANIME EPISODE OF THE WEEK!!!
Like many of the reviews on our Anime of the Week sub-page, Anime Episode of the Week gives you a full episode review on one of our favorite anime titles (and yours too)! So without further ado, let’s get this party started! 😉
Our Anime Episode of the Week is…
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt: Season 1 Episode 1
If you’ve already seen the review that we did for this show on our Anime of the Week page, then you already know how crazy, filthy, and funny this show really is. I didn’t really stumble onto this show until Summer/Fall 2012 (around the time the dub came out) and upon seeing the first episode…it was bananas! XP
First off, whoever did the casting call must have been thinking to themselves, “Who do we know in this business that has the voice and the sass to bring these two unholy vixens to life?” Enter the infamous female tag team voice acting pair of Jamie Marchi and Monica Rial! Jamie brings the gun-toting sass as Panty Anarchy, while Monica brings her well known mischievous and deviously sweet side to Stocking Anarchy.
As I said before the first episode was nuts. Chris Sabat put his southern baptist Afro-American voice on, as he introduces the audience to the unholy angelic anti-heroines. A dog that looks like Gir’s long lost brother gets fried to a crisp as a small note falls from his mouth. A little later on upon hearing Panty speak a part of me already had a feeling that Jamie was going to be that character. (Even though during a panel at Anime Expo she kinda wanted to be cast as Stocking.) This is also the first time I’ve ever heard a voice actor make orgasm noises through a character, although at my age it shouldn’t be anything new. (Hey FUNimation, when did you guys start doing hentai? Just kidding! *laughs*)
Overall the first episode is just a taste of what the rest of the series is going to be like. If you wanna know how many F-Bombs Jamie drops as Panty throughout the whole show, I’ll give you a hint; It’s the name of a movie title that Russell Crowe was in.
